Designer Beata Heuman is somewhat of an interior powerhouse. So when we learned that she had teamed up with Britain’s oldest family-run paint company, Mylands, we knew that good things were to come.
Beloved for her ability to make every room sing (which coincidentally is the title of her first book, Every Room Should Sing) the Swedish-born designer has taken that design je ne sais quoi and channeled it into a collaboration with a heritage brand that shares the same home: London.
Comprising 24 vivid and considered colors, aptly named The Dependables, the Beata Heuman x Mylands collection naturally nails the biggest color trends of 2025. Here's everything you need to know.
Introducing designer Beata Heuman's first paint collection
While Beata you may be familiar with, Mylands might need a little introduction across the pond. A heritage brand (established in 1884 no less) Mylands has been perfecting the art of richly pigmented paint for over 140 years in the heart of London.
Not only have they earned a gold star reputation for their water-based, low VOC content (making them especially kind to the planet); but Mylands have also been given the right royal seal of approval.
The Royal Warrant was previously awarded to the brand in 1985 by Her Majesty The Queen and has since been granted again by His Majesty The King with thanks for supplying goods to the Royal Household and palaces over the past 40 years. Quite the endorsement.
Founding her eponymous studio in 2013, Beata has since earned countless accolades thanks to her nostalgic, whimsical, and lively approach to interior design and of course: color.
'It has been my dream to do my own paint collection, I am very specific about color, and I think about it a lot, so it has been thoroughly enjoyable expressing that and now being able to share it with a bigger audience,' says Beata.
As a color obsessive, Beata poured time and love into the 24 shades. She started with a good reliable white, No. 1 Beata White, working with the head of color development Anna Steel to perfect each shade. 'When we found ourselves seven tries down in the sampling process with No. 20 Cigar,' a retro toffee chocolate brown, 'even I was close to giving up! Anna kept pushing and I think that commitment to getting it right really shines through looking at the collection we’ve created.'

So what makes the partnership such a success? Dominic Mylands, the 4th generation CEO, says of the collaboration: 'Beata’s projects show deep consideration for color and the art of balancing colors well, and it is exciting to have this expertise condensed into a succinct palette for everyone to use.'
'I really appreciate her dedication to developing exactly the right shade with our team,' he continues. 'It mirrors our own passion for creating beautiful colors that will stand the test of time.' Dependable shades, you might say.
It all started with the two coming together to work on colors for 188 Hammersmith, Beata's London-based showroom, and then her own home where most of the captivating imagery for the collection was shot.
The stand-out hue is a warming buttery shade, No. 23 Wheatsheaf, that was inspired by wheat fields just before harvest and Beata used on her kitchen fridge. They also took eclectic referencing from 19th-century folk buildings found in the north of Sweden and dingy pubs in Brighton on the South Coast of England – yes really, meet No. 8 Pub, Beata's softened alternative to true black.
While not a vast collection, is it perfectly concise with a rich mix of both bold and timeless hues that we will simply never tire of.
Putting real heart and soul into the collection, the 24 shades include a wash of versatile neutrals that range from cool to warm, uplifting greens, Beata's 'perfect shade of blue' – No. 11 Stockholm – 2025's favorite hue butter yellow, and a striking, not-quite-unexpected red with rusty undertones.
