DJ Moore hears the noise about a possible quarterback change next year, but he doesn’t want any part of it. The Chicago Bears wide receiver spoke with reporters following a grueling 20-17 loss to the Cleveland Browns, in which the Bears blew a 10-point lead in the fourth quarter once again this year. It was a tough day for the offense, which totaled just 236 yards and 10 points on the day.
For Moore, it was equally frustrating. The Bears’ top receiver finished the day with four receptions for 52 yards on eight targets while entering and exiting the field trying to manage an ankle injury. But even with the uneven performance, Moore still believes in his quarterback and doesn’t think a rookie would be a better option.
“Ya’ll asked me that last week? Somebody asked me that last week, I’m still like, bro, we’re all seeing this like, what makes him [Fields] not the quarterback for the Chicago Bears right now?” Moore asks via Marquee Sports. “I get you all got everybody coming out; what like two of them? I don’t think they’re better than Justin.”

Moore, of course, is referring to Caleb Williams and Drake Maye, the consensus top two quarterbacks in the 2024 NFL Draft. With the Bears likely having a top pick thanks to the Carolina Panthers, one of those players could be on the Bears radar next spring. But Moore doesn’t want to see it. He thinks Fields is better than them and implies he wouldn’t want the Bears to move on in favor of one of them.
Fields had an up-and-down day on Sunday, completing 19-of-40 passes for 166 yards, one touchdown, and two interceptions that came on Hail Mary attempts. Moore is having a career year with Fields, catching 80 passes for 1,123 yards and seven touchdowns. He seems content to keep Fields over drafting a quarterback, but time will tell if general manager Ryan Poles agrees.
