His work in Detroit under Dan Campbell has been heralded. A year ago he passed on interviews to be a head coach and returned to Detroit.
Johnson will get a chance to shape Caleb Williams, the No. 1 pick in the 2024 NFL draft.
The Bears were 4-2 in 2024 before losing 10 straight and seeing coach Matt Eberflus fired during the stretch.
Johnson has been with the Lions since 2020 and was the offensive coordinator since 2022.
Campbell said after the loss to the Commanders that he expected to lose both coordinators, Johnson and DC Aaron Glenn.
