The Chicago Bears are looking to make a move on defense to assist head coach Matt Eberflus, who’s serving as defensive play caller.
Eberflus told the media Monday that the team is seeking a potential hire for a senior defensive analyst role, someone who would help with scheme and breaking down future opponents, as the team remains without a defensive coordinator.

As far as candidates go, there aren’t any names Eberflus floated around. But there’s one person we can definitively rule out: former Bears defensive coordinator and Eberflus’ mentor and friend, Rod Marinelli.
Eberflus, who talks to him frequently, said Marinelli is “comfortable in retirement.”
If the Bears were to bring in a senior defensive analyst, Eberflus reiterated that he would still be calling plays for the defense.
