The Chicago Bears finally recorded their first win in nearly a year, but the injury blows just keep on coming.
Running back Khalil Herbert, who suffered an ankle injury in Thursday night’s win over the Washington Commanders, is expected to miss multiple weeks due to the injury, according to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.
Buy Bears TicketsHerbert suffered the injury in the third quarter when he bent back awkwardly in an attempt to catch a pass from quarterback Justin Fields. Rookie Roschon Johnson suffered a concussion earlier in the game and Travis Homer, a special teams ace, also suffered a hamstring injury. Fullback Khari Blasingame, who had three career carries, stepped in at running back for the remainder of the game.

Johnson remains in concussion protocol, but given the mini-bye week, he has a better chance at being available when Chicago suits up against the Minnesota Vikings in Week 6.
Meanwhile, D’Onta Foreman, who’s been a healthy scratch for the last few games, figures to get significant action with Herbert and Johnson banged up. Foreman has proven to be a workhorse — and step in when needed — in the past.
We’ll see if the Bears opt to place Herbert on injured reserve (where he would have to miss at least four games) or if they don’t believe it’s too serious. Head coach Matt Eberflus meets with the media Monday.
