Bears QB Justin Fields on left shoulder injury: ‘The pain right now is pretty bad’

Bears quarterback Justin Fields suffered a left shoulder injury on the team’s final drive in a 27-24 loss to the Falcons in Week 11.

Fields met with the media after the game, where he shared an update about his injury. Specifically, the pain.

“The pain right now is pretty bad,” he said.

Fields said he believes the injury happened on the first play of that final series, where he was tackled on his way out of bounds on a designed quarterback run and landed on his left shoulder.

The next play, Fields also kept the ball and was hit again, where he was once again in noticeable pain. The following play, Fields tossed an interception that effectively ended any hopes of a comeback.

Fields got an X-ray shortly after the game and had an IV. He said he was cramping throughout the game, specifically with his hamstrings.

Fields said the team doctors are still evaluating the testing he went through after the game. But, for now, he’ll “take it day-by-day” with his shoulder injury.

As for why Fields remained in the game after suffering the injury?

“It was the last drive of the game,” he said. “I was trying to be there for my teammates and fight through the pain.”
