Bears quarterback Justin Fields is spending his weekend in France.
He’ll leave Friday night to put on a football camp with Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson and Packers quarterback Jordan Love. All three quarterbacks are mentored by quarterback coach Quincy Avery, who will also help run the camp, and are represented by agent David Mulugheta.
The QB Takeover Football Camp will take place Sunday at the U.S. Metropolitaine Des Transports in Paris. The camp will teach players at all positions, not just quarterback.
“This is going to be my first time in Europe — I’m definitely excited for that,” Fields said Thursday after the Bears’ final mandatory minicamp practice at Halas Hall.
As far as mingling with a Packers quarterback: Fields and Love are friendly and have trained together before.
“Guys I usually work with in the offseason a pretty good amount, they’re going to be out there and we’re just going to host a little football camp out there,” Fields said. “I’m just excited to be out there and be able to teach some kids overseas about American football. I’m excited.
Fields finished practice Thursday with his strongest performance of the week, particularly in red zone drills, where he made quick decisions and crisp passes. The Bears then broke for the summer.
Fields said he’ll take about 10 days off, starting Friday, and then start to ramp up for training camp, which begins in late July. In the middle of July, he plans to invite Bears receivers, tight ends and running backs to throw with him for a few days.
