Bears quarterback Justin Fields emerged as one of the NFL’s most exciting young players last season, and he’s certainly garnered respect from his peers around the league.
NFL Films shared a sneak peek clip at the NFL’s Top 100 Players of 2023 countdown, which all but indicates Fields has earned a spot on the list.
“He’s probably the best running quarterback I’ve seen,” said 49ers edge rusher Nick Bosa, who’s faced Fields twice now. “I think his throwing ability is going to keep getting better.”
The first 10 names of NFL Network’s Top 100 players list will be revealed Monday on NFL+, and it certainly sounds like Fields landed among that group. If that’s the case, this would be the first time in the program’s 13-year history that a Bears quarterback has made the list.

Fields is entering a pivotal third season where the expectation is he’ll take a step forward in his development. While he’s already proven to be arguably the NFL’s best running quarterback, he needs to improve as a passer.
That’s why the Bears have spent the offseason building around him, including acquiring a No. 1 wide receiver in DJ Moore, who should help Fields elevate as a passer. Chicago also shored up needs along the offensive line with the additions of Nate Davis and rookie Darnell Wright.
Given the roster upgrades, the expectation is Fields should emerge as a true dual-threat quarterback in 2023.
Bears fans can't believe they have a QB in the Top 100
Oh my God the Bears are actually going to have a quarterback in the NFL Top 100 list.
It feels illegal to even say that. https://t.co/FQerDmiej2

I don’t think a Bears quarterback has ever cracked the NFL Top 100?
What’s crazy is Fields hasn’t even come close to reaching his full potential either.
The players just know he’s special. https://t.co/va8wurSIRL

Knew that Fields was gonna be in the Top 100 this year
So many stars across the league gave him major props last season. I don’t believe a Bears QB has made this list in the time they’ve been doing the Top 100 https://t.co/HDVi9zGygD

Game recognizes game. Months ago I said Justin Fields is the 2nd coming of Vick. The era of the statuesque QB is dead. Embrace the new era. https://t.co/8L8j8Rc2SB pic.twitter.com/vgyZgzbAoO

Finished 9 of his last 10 games as a top 10 graded QB.
Finished the season from week 9-18 with the 4th best QBR & 13-6 TD ratio, #1 in TD-INT ratio vs playoff teams, passer rating last 11 games was a 92, and 11.7 in YPC last year… While being pressured on 46% of his passes https://t.co/XILhH48HkL pic.twitter.com/jN2nZsokIf

Well I’ll be damned Fields is gonna make the top 100.
I guess I should listen to the players and not the dopey lions, viking, and Packer fans on Twitter https://t.co/YISkNsUHKB

Good thing I didn’t let Joey1527368 from twitter convince me that my QB was a “bust”.. yet here he is about to crack the #NFLTop100 🤷🏽♂️ https://t.co/8NHDFBDGjc

I'll always say this… THE NEW YORK JETS messed up. Fields was top two if not 1 in 2021. They would've got their QB for the future. #DaBears https://t.co/sM0twKzHI0

OHHHH so you're saying JF1 is a Top 100 player?! 👀
Always comical how many analysts say he is bad at football, but countless NFL players speak so highly of him 🤷♂️ https://t.co/FMiRfeB9zR
— Jordan Anderson (@j_anderson97) July 20, 2023
I knew this was bound to happen but it’s absolutely WILD to see a Bears QB make the NFL’s top 100.
The respect JF1 earned this past season from rest of the league is clear. 🔥 https://t.co/aSriODwq0v

Has the respect of players all throughout the league, but unfortunately not the respect of random Twitter trolls that call him a running back. Not sure I can ever manage such pain😔 https://t.co/0ICSgSoYDd
