Bears’ Justin Fields already making impression on newcomer Tremaine Edmunds

New Bears linebacker Tremaine Edmunds was already familiar with quarterback Justin Fields after Chicago faced off against the Bills last season.

Although, Edmunds admits that “he’s a lot bigger than I thought he was,” having seen him on the regular since signing with the team in March.

While Edmunds has only been with the Bears for a couple of months, he’s been impressed with what he’s seen from Fields in terms of his leadership and development.

Hard worker, leader. You can see that he makes guys around him better,” Edmunds said. “He leads from the front. His work obviously speaks for itself. Just seeing him go out there every day and grow, develop, spread the ball around, just his thinking, I’m seeing it firsthand and I’m excited.”

Last season, Fields emerged as one of the NFL’s most dangerous playmakers — and that was without a strong supporting cast. Now, the Bears have surrounded Fields with some new pieces, including wide receivers DJ Moore and Tyler Scott and tight end Robert Tonyan, as well as offensive linemen Darnell Wright and Nate Davis.

Edmunds likes what he’s seeing from the Bears offense, especially given Fields’ potential to thrive with the upgrades around him.

“They’ve got a lot of good things going on on the offensive side,” Edmunds said. “With his leadership and obviously his playmaking ability, it’s something to be excited for, for sure.”
