The Chicago Bears received positive news in regards to offensive guard Teven Jenkins. The second-year offensive lineman left the field on a stretcher on the team’s first drive in the 25-20 loss against the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday after suffering a neck injury. He was taken to a hospital to receive further evaluation, but things appear to be heading in the right direction according to head coach Matt Eberflus.
“I don’t really have much of an update from there but it is encouraging for him,” Eberflus said. “We’ll see where he is later today. He is seeing a couple of specialists just to double-check and cross-check everything. We’ll see later today.”
Eberflus also confirmed Jenkins was released from the hospital, another step in the right direction. He wouldn’t comment on the severity of the injury or his status moving forward for the rest of the year but the fact he continues to be encouraged is good news.
Jenkins moved to right guard to start the season and has become arguably the team’s best offensive lineman. He was having a Pro Bowl-caliber season before this injury occurred.
