The Chicago Bears are making big moves in free agency at linebacker. The Bears are expected to sign linebacker Tremaine Edmunds. NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport was first on the news.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, it’s a four-year, $72 million deal that includes $50 million guaranteed. It’s the largest four-year contract for an inside linebacker in the NFL.
Edmunds, who will be just 25 when the 2023 season begins, is everything Matt Eberflus is looking for in a WILL linebacker. He’s been a solid run defender and improved significantly in coverage last season with a 90 grade from Pro Football Focus.
Last season, Edmunds totaled 102 tackles, including six for a loss, one sack, seven pass breakups and three quarterback hits with the Bills.
A big splash: The #Bears are signing star LB Tremaine Edmunds.

This move comes after Chicago signed T.J. Edwards to a three-year deal worth $19.5 million to kick off the start of free agency.
With the additions of Edmunds and Edwards — to join a promising second-year player in Jack Sanborn — the Bears have one of the best linebacker groups in the entire NFL.
