The Chicago Bears have made their first big move in free agency as they’re expected to sign former Cincinnati Bengals defensive tackle Larry Ogunjobi.
Ogunjobi is coming off a season-ending right foot injury during the wild-card round of the postseason. With the Bears transitioning to a 4-3 defense under new head coach Matt Eberflus, Ogunjobi is a quality 3-technique that would fit Chicago’s new defensive scheme.
According to Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune, Ogunjobi’s deal is slated to be a big one. It’s a three-year deal worth $40.5 million, including $26.35 million guaranteed.

Last season, Ogunjobi had seven sacks and 16 QB pressures, something that could help a Bears pass rush already loaded with talent on the edge.
Ogunjobi’s signing indicates that defensive tackle Bilal Nichols might not be re-signed. But depending on Nichols’ market, perhaps he could return to Chicago on an affordable deal.
