The Bears worked veteran wide receiver Cordarrelle Patterson at running back Monday in their first practice of the 2020 season.
Patterson stuck primarily with the running backs, though he took some reps at wide receiver during individual work.
“For him to be able to go back there and take some snaps, get used to it, it is different, just because there’s different techniques that he’s gonna learn,” coach Matt Nagy said. “It’s been a good room for him so far. I don’t know. We’ll see. I’m excited to see what he can do there.
“We want to be able to get the most out of him. He’s a very talented guy as you guys have seen in the past last year. We just feel like when you have weapons like that you want to find ways to get him the ball.”
Patterson rushed a career-high 42 times for 228 yards and a touchdown in 2018.
Nagy had big plans for Patterson when the Bears signed him last year, but little of that materialized. He caught 11 passes for 83 yards and ran 17 times for 103 yards last season.
