The Chicago Bears choked away a 21-point lead in a loss to the Denver Broncos on Sunday, which dropped them to 0-4 on the season. It also marked their 14th consecutive loss dating back to last year.
It was a heartbreaking end to what was a promising start, where quarterback Justin Fields had a perfect first half and had career highs in passing yards (335) and passing touchdowns (4).
But if there’s a positive to be found in the devastating defeat, it’s that the Bears currently hold the top two picks in the 2024 NFL draft, according to Tankathon,
There are just two winless teams left in the league — the Bears and Carolina Panthers. Luckily for Chicago, they own Carolina’s first-round selection in 2024.
Technically, the Bears hold the No. 1 pick while the Panthers own the No. 2 pick. But it doesn’t matter, they’re both Chicago’s selections — at least through Week 4.
There’s still plenty of season left, but the Bears continue to spiral and it’s clear changes are on the way — whether it’s in-season or after the season.
If general manager Ryan Poles is still in place — and Chicago holds the top pick — he could very well use it to draft his quarterback if he opts to move on from Fields.
