The Chicago Bears were just embarrassed on national television — again — in a 41-10 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday.
But there is one bright spot to pull from the absolute disaster that was Sunday’s loss: The Bears have two top-five draft picks in the 2024 NFL draft.
Buy Bears TicketsAccording to Tankathon, Chicago currently owns the No. 1 overall pick, as well as the Carolina Panthers’ first-round selection (currently No. 4 overall), which was acquired in the trade for the Bears’ No. 1 selection in 2023.
Yes, we’re doing this already in Week 3.
What other choice do we have? The Bears are easily the worst team in the NFL. They’re in shambles, riding a 13-game losing streak and with concerns about the future of this team at all levels, especially at the top.
Chicago has plenty of questions at this juncture of the 2023 season, including needs at offensive line, defensive line, wide receiver and perhaps quarterback. It’s something to consider as USC quarterback Caleb Williams could be available for the Bears at No. 1, if they opt to move on from Justin Fields, who’s regressed this season.
Honestly, it’s too early in this disappointing season to really know where this team will be in 15 weeks. We could have in-season firings if things keep spiraling. It could just be offensive coordinator Luke Getsy. Perhaps head coach Matt Eberflus. Heck, maybe president/CEO Kevin Warren opts to clean house entirely and ousts general manager Ryan Poles.
There are a lot of question marks. But, when all is said and done, the Bears could very well have two top-five draft picks when the 2023 season comes to a close.
