Bears could trade No. 1 pick at NFL combine

The Arizona Cardinals hold the No. 3 overall pick in the 2023 NFL draft. The Chicago Bears have the first overall pick. Because the Bears already have quarterback Justin Field, who many feel is a franchise quarterback, it is a real possibility that the could trade out of the top pick.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that they are “leaning toward” moving out of the top spot.

A team looking to trade up would most certainly be looking to select a quarterback.

The Bears could end up having a deal in place this week in Indianapolis during the NFL combine.

What would this mean?

It would mean that it would be almost a certainty that the top two picks in the draft would be quarterbacks, assuming that it isn’t the Houston Texans, who have the second pick in the draft, who move up.

If a team other than the Texans move up to take a quarterback, the Texans are also expected to select a quarterback.

That would leave the Cardinals with every non-quarterback in the draft available.

Because the Cardinals have Kyler Murray, it would be akin to having the No. 1 pick in the draft.

As of right now, it looks like the Cardinals will have available to them at No. 3 overall either Georgia defensive tackle Jalen Carter or Alabama EDGE Will Anderson.

If the top two picks are known to be quarterbacks, then the focus would change from who will be available to which would the Cardinals like more.
