Bears agree to terms with RB D’Andre Swift on 3-year deal

The Chicago Bears have made their first big splash of free agency agreeing to terms with former Philadelphia Eagles running back D’Andre Swift, according to several NFL insiders.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, it’s a three-year deal worth $24.5 million for Swift with $15.3 million guaranteed. He joins a Bears backfield featuring Khalil Herbert and Roschon Johnson. Swift will serve as the new starting running back in Chicago.

Swift is coming off a career year with the Eagles, where he rushed for 1,049 yards with 4.6 yards per carry and five touchdowns. He also provided a threat as a pass catcher, hauling in 39 catches for 214 yards and a score. Swift earned his first career Pro Bowl nod in 2023.

Swift is expected to be a focal point in new offensive coordinator Shane Waldron’s offense. While Justin Fields is currently on the roster, the expectation is Chicago will have a rookie quarterback starting in 2024, so having a savvy veteran and playmaker like Swift in the backfield will be key.
