Teven Jenkins has found new life with the Bears since transitioning from right tackle to right guard. And to say it was a rollercoaster of a past month would be an understatement.
Jenkins went from being a reserve to the presumptive starter at right guard ahead of Week 1’s opener against the 49ers. But before the storm settled, Jenkins found himself dealing with rumors about his clashing with coaches and reports of Chicago engaging in trade talks.
Since Jenkins took over at right guard, then arrow has been pointed up for Jenkins and his future in Chicago. Which is why it was so surprising that NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reiterated his stance that he believes it’s possible the Bears could trade Jenkins before Tuesday’s roster cutdown deadline.

It certainly bears monitoring considering this is Rapoport making the statement. But it also seems incredibly unlikely given how Jenkins has emerged as Chicago’s starting right guard heading into Week 1.
“I thought Teven’s done a great job of accepting that challenge of right guard,” offensive coordinator Luke Getsy said Monday. “… the guard position has more on his plate than the tackle position. For him to be able to go in and execute at a high level was really good.”
The offensive line is a focal point heading into the 2022 season given the importance of protecting second-year quarterback Justin Fields. While the offensive line is a concern, the projected starting interior of the offensive line — Cody Whitehair, Lucas Patrick and Jenkins — certainly feels solid.
Barring some impressive trade package that general manager Ryan Poles can’t refuse, the notion that the Bears would trade Jenkins doesn’t seem plausible.
