Bear Grylls has taken to Instagram to apologise for looking "cheery" as he attended the Queen's funeral. The television star was among the famous faces invited to the service which took place at Westminster Abbey on Monday, September 19.
Bear attended the state funeral as a representative for the Scouts, of which Her Majesty was Patron. Chief Scout Bear Grylls OBE was among the first arrivals at the service and waved and smiled as he was pictured outside Westminster Abbey.
Following the service, the 48-year-old explained he was waving at a cameraman from the show Running Wild, who had been specially selected to film the service. After sharing a moving tribute to the Queen on social media, Bear wrote: "Lovely to be with my sister Lara before the service... and special to see our cameraman on Running Wild @Mungothecameraman selected to film the entrance to the service.

"It was him that I was acknowledging when I waved. I'm so sorry if it looked cheery when it is such a solemn day. I didn't mean that."
Bear also shared a string of poignant photographs of the Queen's coffin and Royal Family from the memorable day and wrote: "It's a day we will never forget… a truly beautiful testament to our Nation's Sovereign, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth. Rest in Peace. Your duty done. Long Live King Charles…"
Bear was appointed Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in the 2019 Birthday Honours for services to young people, the media and charity. Bear also paid tribute to the Queen in a moving article posted on the Scouts UK official website.
He said: "I will miss her quiet leadership, her values and integrity, and her wonderful sense of humour. While she was our monarch and Patron, she always made time to listen to our Scouts and recognise their achievements. Her smile would light up the room."
