Beale confirms Lawrence Rangers injury as he sets return timeline for four players

Michael Beale has confirmed Tom Lawrence has suffered an injury setback at Rangers.

The midfielder returned to the first-team fold in recent weeks but has now been sent for a scan on an injury knock picked up against Real Betis.

Beale confirmed the midfielder was injured with the Welshman left out of the squad to face Motherwell with suspected cramp turning out to be more serious.

On his team selection, Beale told BBC Sportsound: "Two are enforced. Tom Lawrence came off with what he thought was cramp but when he came in the next morning it was more than that. So he's away having a scan and he'll probably miss the next couple of games to the international break which is disappointing because he is such a big player.

"Kemar [Roofe] we need to manage, it's fair to say. He's available off the bench today and then we've got two other games coming this week as well.

"One change is just tactical, we think that we need a type of player like a Scott Wright in this game to dribble and we think [Abdallah] Sima can come on late when there is maybe bigger spaces."

Despite the injury disappointment, Beale suggested Lawrence's injury is not a major issue and he is set to return after the international break.

Nico Raskin, Todd Cantwell and Danilo could all return alongside Lawrence in the first game back after the international break - but Beale insisted none of his players will be rushed.

He said: "Obviously, there has been some noise about some players being out five or six weeks. It's purely that we've got five games in two weeks then we're off for two weeks. It's more than likely along with Raskin and Cantwell that he'll be back along with Danilo as well the first game after the international break.

"If they can make it back for the last game away at St Mirren then great but we certainly aren't going to rush them."
