A woman in her 60s has died after getting into difficulties while swimming off the Co Wexford coast.
The incident occurred shortly after 8pm on Tuesday at Ballymoney strand, Co Wexford when the woman got into difficulty while out for an evening swim.
Despite being taken from the water within minutes she was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency services. Her body has been taken to University Hospital Waterford where a post mortem examination will be carried out.

A file will be prepared for the Coroner.
In a statement gardai said: “Gardaí and emergency services responded to an incident at Ballymoney strand, Co Wexford shortly after 8pm on Tuesday, July 4.
“A woman in her 60s was taken from the water and treated at the scene by emergency services personnel but was pronounced dead a short time later.
"The deceased was removed to the mortuary at University Hospital Waterford where a post-mortem examination will be carried out. A file will be prepared for the Coroner.”
