Beach hut that's more expensive than average terrace house for sale

A North Wales beach hut is on the market, but it costs more than an average terrace house.

The small hut, at Abersoch, is listed for sale for a staggering £200,000, despite not having running water or electricity. If sold at £200,000 the beachfront property will be the most expensive hut ever sold on the popular resort Porth Mawr.

North Wales live reports the the asking price is £25,000 more than the previous highest asking price for one of Abersoch’s brightly painted beach huts. The figure of £175,000 was a guide price, and it is not known what fee was eventually agreed but the official record price stands at £160,000 for a bathing hut sold in 2017.

The average house price in the region where the beach hut it was £235,494 in the last year. However according to Rightmove, most of the houses sold in the county were terraced properties, which levelled at £150,533.

In comparison with properties in Liverpool, the overall average price of homes were £201,341 over the last year, Rightmove reports. Similarly, most sales were terraced properties, selling for an average price of £143,106. While Semi-detached properties sold for an average of £220,685, with flats fetching £142,317.

The huts on Porth Mawr offer incredible views across to the St Tudwal's Islands, one of which is owned by adventurer Bear Grylls. Abersoch agents Elvins said the place was a “rare opportunity” to get a slice of prime beachfront real estate.

It has a private deck which, said the agents, boast “stunning sea views” across to the islands. And despite the absence of running water, drainage or electricity, buyers can be reassured it provides “ample storage”.
