Graeme Souness has warned Bournemouth fans to 'be careful what you wish for' amid links to former Leeds United manager Marcelo Bielsa despite his 'entertaining' brand of football. Some reports claim the Cherries are in advanced talks over appointing Bielsa as their new boss despite the impressive job of Gary O'Neil as interim.
Bielsa remains a fan favourite at Elland Road after getting the club promoted to the Premier League in 2020 with an extremely attractive style of play. That said, his way of playing was sometimes the subject of criticism from some pundits due to the problems it can cause from a defensive point of view.
Leeds conceded 20 goals in Bielsa's final five matches in charge before his dismissal, a period of form which highlighted what can go wrong with his style. Speaking on talkSPORT, Souness claimed that while Bielsa is a coach who does 'make players better', it would be a 'high risk' appointment for Bournemouth.

"He likes working with small squads and he does make players better. It is a different way of playing football, is it entertaining? It certainly is, it certainly is.
"But it's high risk stuff. Be careful what you wish for, Bielsa is a big name, Bielsa - at Leeds was his longest time as a manager at a football club. I think he spent four years at Chile, the rest of the time he doesn't hang around very much.
"Is it a good fit for Bournemouth? I am not sure. He plays a brand of football that I can only describe as kamikaze."
