The Backward Classes Welfare Department has tied up with Edtech company ‘Unacademy’ to provide free coaching to aspirants appearing for the 80,039 posts that the government plans to fill up soon.
BC Welfare Minister Gangula Kamalakar along with BC Welfare principal secretary Burra Venkatesham told the media on Wednesday that coaching will be provided to 1.2 lakh aspirants for various recruitment exams through offline and online modes along with a stipend for selected candidates. The government will spend ₹50 crore for the programme.
Mr. Kamalakar said that an online entrance test will be held on April 16 and coaching will start on April 21 at 16 study circles and 103 study centres with 25,000 candidates benefitting directly and one lakh aspirants through hybrid mode. Constituencies, where study circles don’t exist, will get a study centre with facilities like a reading room, online classroom and faculty.
He said that 75% of seats will be reserved for BCs, 10% for SCs, 5% each for STs and EBC candidates while another 5% will be selected from poor families irrespective of caste.
A stipend of ₹5,000 will be provided to eligible Group-I aspirants along with a book fund while Group-II candidates will get ₹3,000 and sub-inspector aspirants will get ₹2,000 stipend for six months.
Mr. Burra Venkatesham said that the online test will be held on April 16 at 11 a.m. and candidates can register till 10 a.m. on the same day. Results will be declared immediately. The top 5% will be selected for Group-I coaching and the remaining will be selected for Group-II and SI posts based on their performance.
