BBMP revenue inspector convicted in bribery case

The 23rd City Civil and Session Court on Tuesday convicted a Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) revenue inspector in a corruption case and sentenced him to five years of rigorous imprisonment and a fine of ₹40,000.

The convicted officer, Nagendra, was working in ARO office in Begur sub division and demanded ₹ 20,000 from a resident for an official favour.

Unable to pay, the resident approached the ACB, following which the officials trapped Nagendra red-handed while receiving the bribe in August 2017.

The ACB officials filed a chargesheet before the court in November 2018.
