BBC Weather: Sun expected to return to Edinburgh following hail and rain

The sun is set to return to Edinburgh later this week according to BBC Weather, but not before periods of hail and heavy rainfall.

According to the forecaster, Tuesday will see rain showers that become "increasingly heavy and persistent" throughout the afternoon.

It will be a relatively mild day in the city, however, with temperatures hanging around 10 degrees Celsius until 9pm, after which they will gradually fall.

It will be a cool but not cold night, with lows of 7C — though the rain will remain persistent through to Wednesday morning.

Wednesday will be much of the same, with highs of 10C and rainfall expected throughout the day according to BBC Weather.

By 7pm, temperatures will have dipped to 7C, and they will continue to fall throughout the evening and overnight — eventually hitting lows of 3C at around 2am.

Thursday morning will continue to be a cold one in the capital, with temperatures hanging around 5C until around 11am, after which things will warm up slightly.

The afternoon will see highs of 8C but it will be another wet day in the city — and according to BBC Weather "hail showers" are expected at around 5pm.

Thursday night is forecast to be the coldest one of the week, with lows plunging to 0C early on Friday morning.

Fortunately, the rest of the day looks to be a much more positive one.

By 9am, the clouds over the city will have dissipated and it will remain bright and clear throughout the afternoon.

It's also set to be slightly warmer, with temperatures reaching highs of 9C in the mid-to-late afternoon.
