By Monday, temperatures could rise in Liverpool to 32C with Tuesday proving equally hot at 29C. Given the high temperatures, the Met Office has extended its warning for extreme heat across parts of England and Wales.
The rare "amber" warning for exceptionally high temperatures, posing a potential risk to life, was first issued to cover Sunday and has now been updated to include the whole of Monday.
Rebekah Sherwin, Met Office deputy chief meteorologist, said: "From Sunday and into Monday, temperatures are likely to be in excess of 35°C in the southeast, although the details still remain uncertain. Elsewhere, temperatures could be fairly widely above 32°C in England and Wales, and in the mid-to-high 20s Celsius further north."
However, according to BBC Weather, on Wednesday, July 20, temperatures will revert to 21C in Liverpool. The heat will rise to 23C again on Friday, July 22 before dropping to 21C on Monday, July 25.
