BBC Weather has forecast snow for the first time in Liverpool this winter - and it's set to fall within days.
Winds which are currently blowing from the east are expected to shift to the north bringing an Arctic chill to the country and below-average temperatures for the time of year.
The BBC said there will be light snow and sleet showers from Friday, December 9 to Sunday, December 11. On Tuesday, December 13 there will be light snow in the morning, followed by sleet showers until Wednesday, December 14.

Snow and sleet is also forecast for Sefton, St Helens, Wirral, Halton and Knowsley. BBC Weather said: "It will turn very cold through the middle of next week with a northerly flow developing. It will be largely dry. There will be spells of sunshine through Tuesday and Wednesday with biting breezes for most."
The Met Office has warned that temperatures overnight Wednesday into Thursday could drop to minus 7C or minus 8C in some parts of the UK. In St Helens, temperatures could drop to minus 4C on Thursday night.
Alex Burkill, Met Office meteorologist, said: "At the moment we have an easterly flow and as such our winds are coming from the east and that is a cold direction and it is cold out, however from Tuesday onwards we are going to get a northerly flow, so our winds coming from the north, that is Arctic air leading to our temperatures dropping even further as we go through this week.
"It's going to turn even colder and feel even colder still with temperatures well below average for the time of year both by day and by night."
