BBC Weather forecasts 34C in Bristol as 'heatwave conditions' likely in UK

BBC Weather has forecast temperatures as high as 34 degrees across Bristol this week. On Thursday (August 11) temperatures are set to skyrocket to the mid-30s, and the rest of the week is set for weather in the high 20s and early 30s.

Forecasters predict that as a 'high pressure system' located over the southern North Sea hits, dry and sunny conditions will be seen across the UK. On Thursday, temperatures will peak with more clear skies and prolonged spells of sunshine.

The Met Office forecasts a similar outlook for the week. Predicting 'dry weather' for the week, the national weather service states that 'temperatures will continue to climb, making it feel increasingly hot'.

This week will see dry and sunny weather in Bristol, which will turn increasingly hot over the coming days. Today (August 8) could see temperatures as high as 28 degrees.

BBC Weather has forecast that morning cloud will quickly disperse to give way to a dry day. Sunshine is expected to continue late into this evening, with sunset expected at 8.47pm. No rainfall is expected.

Ahead of the UK heating up this week, Met Office chief forecaster Steve Willington said: “We could see parts of the UK entering heatwave conditions if the above-average temperatures last for three days or more. Many areas of the UK, especially the south will witness temperatures several degrees higher than average, but these values are likely to be well below the record-breaking temperatures we saw in mid-July.

"As the high pressure builds there is very little meaningful rain in the forecast, especially in those areas in the south of England, which experienced very dry conditions last month." Bristol Water has said there will be no hosepipe ban during the hot spell, however.

Met Office has indicated that weather may return to more changeable conditions from mid-August. Rebekah Sherwin, deputy chief meteorologist with the Met Office, said, "the UK doesn’t have the heating potential of mid-July as the sun is lower in the sky and the hours of daylight are marginally shorter."

There'll be plenty of sunshine today - and that's set to continue for the rest of the week. See the full weather forecast for Bristol this week below:
