A BBC newsreader has thanked fans for their support after she was rushed to hospital for emergency surgery. BBC Wales Today newsreader Lucy Owen shared that she visited her optician who spotted a detached retina.
The 52-year-old BBC Wales Today favourite then had to undergo surgery to save her eyesight, reports Liverpool Echo. Lucy updated fans and is recovering well at home.
In an update she shared a picture of herself wearing an eye patch last week. She wrote: "Again I need to say a huge thank you to the NHS. Going home after Mr Williams and the amazing team @CV_UHB stopped me losing sight in my eye with surgery for a detached retina.

On Saturday (June 24) she took to Twitter to thank fans for supporting her whilst she is recovering. She said: "Thanks so much for your lovely messages, so kind of you.
"Having to lie on my side for a week and won’t get my vision back for a few months - tricky for autocue! But look what I had from my wonderful Wales Today colleagues. So lucky work with such gorgeous people."
