BBC viewers have been left disappointed after Glasgow-based drama series The Control Room failed to pack a punch.
The three-part series aired on BBC One this week, but viewers were less than impressed by the new series. The show follows an emergency call handler is forced to confront his past when he receives a call from a woman who has killed someone and appears to know him.
The show sees Gabe, played by Iain De Caestecker, have his world turned upside down when he receives a call from a hysterical woman who has killed a man.
However, Gabe was left fearing the worst when the woman recognised his voice and finds himself in a situation that will jeopardise his career and his life as he knows it.
The action packed miniseries has left viewers scratching their heads after failing to understand the 'unbelievable' plot, and even comparing it to Mr Bean. Unhappy viewers took to Twitter to rant as the disappointing series aired it's conclusion.
One wrote: "I had high hopes for the control room series on BBC but it’s slowly turning in to Mr Bean."
Another ranted: "BBC Control Room . To be polite to the BBC I decided to watch the last episode of this so called drama . Sorry , my opinion has not changed in fact it’s got worse . I have never watched such drivel as this absolute rubbish . Who wrote it ? Who at the BBC commissioned it !," and continued in a separate tweet, writing: "It’s 3 hours of my life that I will never get back . Any chance I could get a a refund of my time watching such a terrible story line from my license"
A third said: "The Control Room, what a load of mind numbing horse s***, the BBC gave us the likes of Line Of Duty and Doctor Foster and now this"
A fourth agreed: "I don’t often give up on a big TV drama but BBC’s Control Room is pretty dire stuff. Watched 1 & a bit episodes then gave up the will to live."
Another viewer raged: "Over the years the BBC has given us a lot of rubbish to watch. Well, frankly to date The Control Room has got to be the biggest lot of junk on TV, and there is already a great deal. The lead Gabe has got to be among the biggest idiot imaginable. If you haven’t seen it don’t worry"
However, not all viewers had a negative opinion on the new drama. One fan penned: "The Control Room on BBC is actually amazing. I wish I didn’t watch it half distracted whilst I was doing some work, honestly I highly recommend it."
Another penned: "Big fan of @bbc The Control Room, mostly because Iain de Caestecker is so lovely." A third agreed: "BBC churn out another gripping drama with The Control Room, short but sweet".
The Control Room is available now on BBC iPlayer.
