The Scots winner of The Traitors has quit her call centre job in a bid to follow her TV dreams.
Fans of the BBC show were delighted as Edinburgh woman Meryl Williams took home the prize pot cash alongside contestants Hannah Byczkowski and Aaron Evans in last night’s big finale of the surprise smash hit BBC show.
Following her win, the 25-year-old South African born reality star revealed her hopes for TV stardom.
Speaking to PA, Meryl said: "I work at a call centre as a customer service agent and I really want to break into the television and journalism industry in presenting. I'm going to use this time and money to get into that."
She also feels the competition has helped with her independence and confidence and given her a platform to educate people about her dwarfism.
"I think a lot of the times with my condition a lot of people perceive and doubt me so the whole reason why I wanted to go on the show and complete all the tasks, especially the physical ones, was to show people watching back at home that I can do the exact same as everyone else", she said.
When asked about how the winning 'faithfuls' felt when Wilf was revealed to be a 'traitor', all three of the finalists were stunned. Meryl and Hannah were both close with him throughout the series, and didn't suspect him after the group banished previous 'traitors' Amanda and Alyssa.
Meryl said: "I was in shock. I literally dropped to the floor when Wilf told us he was a traitor. I did not believe it. I felt complete shock like, 'How did you lie to me and Hannah for so long?' But it's a game and he was playing the game so well."
It's been recently reported that the reality TV game show will return next year for a second series, and Claudia Winkleman is expected to return as the host.
A TV insider has told Daily Star: "The Traitors has become a big hit after just a few weeks. It was a no-brainer to commission another series. Everyone is hoping it will be even more popular by next year and become one of the biggest shows on TV."
