BBC The Responder fans laughing at extra's mistake

BBC The Responder viewers were confused after they spotted a blunder in last night's episode.

The six-part drama premiered on Monday and follows Chris Carson, a morally compromised urgent response officer tackling a series of night shifts on the beat in Liverpool.

Martin Freeman stars in the lead role, which is based on former Merseyside Police officer Tony Schumacher's experiences working for the force.

Last night's edition explored Chris' struggles to juggle the pressures of the job while keeping his marriage together.

Chris was having an emotional conversation with his wife Kate about their crumbling relationship when he was forced to cut the phone call short to respond to a report of a sudden death.

The officer was investigating the scene when he found Mrs Robinson dead on the sofa.

Chris took her packet of cigarettes before he confirmed she was "deceased" to another officer.

However viewers following the show on Twitter erupted in hysterics when they noticed the "deceased" character blinked twice as Chris moved upstairs.

@ChrisMog5y said: "Please tell me someone else saw the ‘dead woman’ blink, twice then …..?"

Gawain posted: "Not sure about #TheResponder. The corpse blinking just now surely couldn't have escaped post-production?"

Natalie commented : "The corpse blinked"

Becky tweeted: "I enjoyed that but OCD compels me to say I'm pretty sure the dead woman blinked"

Jacob said: "The 'dead lady' is alive! She blinks!!"

The Responder airs Monday at 9pm on BBC One.
