He told the BBC his background is in design but his passion for cars led to his career in restoration.
He said: "I love learning and I’m constantly trying to learn and improve new skills.
“Instead I always seem to think of myself in terms of the saying 'A jack of all trades, a master of none' dipping into all different subjects.
"My background was always art and graphic design, however my passion for cars and metalwork led to jobs in car restoration and metalwork.
“My set design career helped combine all my varying interests, both practical and artistic."
Away from the screen, Dominic is happily married to Maria Domican.
His wife works as a producer and snaps posted on Instagram reveal they share a gorgeous home in rural Kent.
Dominc tends to keep his private life to himself, but his followers have gained an insight into the beautiful red brick home.
The house has a cosy aesthetic as ivy climbs the walls of the stunning exterior.
Dominic has plenty of space for home grown vegetables and is a keen gardener in his spare time.
He also shared a picture of his greenhouse filled with his avocado plants.
His avocado plants seem to be one of his favourite possessions, moving them between the garden, greenhouse and his kitchen throughout the year.
One snap showed them sitting on what looks like a quiet outdoor seating area within a walled garden.
Dominic prefers to keep his love life out of the public eye so doesn’t post much about his wife.
But he often shares snaps of the other member of his household, his dog Wendy.
She’s the gorgeous labradoodle who lives with the pair in their country home.
