BBC The Repair Shop Christmas Special 2022 viewers in tears at emotional ending

The Repair Shop viewers were in tears after an emotional episode of the BBC show.

Jay Blades returned to front the Christmas special as the team revived five more items on the latest programme. The items on the Boxing Day special included a 100 year old artificial tree and a projector.

The final segment of the programme saw the team repair a trombone for a musician named John. The instrument belonged to his dad, but he had never heard it be played until Pete Woods restored it on the show.

John was in tears as he played the trombone for the first time. The musician followed the presenters outside where he joined a brass band to play an emotional rendition of a Christmas carol.

The Repair Shop presenters were joined by younger members of the family as the show looked towards the future after the memories of Christmas past were restored.

Viewers following the show on Twitter were brought to tears by the emotional ending.

Gavin said: "Must be Xmas when a Projector & a Trombone set me off"

Richard said: "And that’s my Boxing Day done. Exactly as I wanted it. Quiet, lazy and relaxing. Finished it off with #therepairshop and a few tears of happy memories. Off to sleep. See you tomorrow! X"

Rachel commented: Oh my goodness, what a beautiful episode @TheRepairShop you can’t beat nostalgia especially at Christmastime"

Robbie posted : "The end of the repair shop Christmas special got me"

Andrew added: "I’ve said it previously, but #TheRepairShop is just glorious. The combination of astonishing skill, tenderness, and social history gets me every time. Best show on TV"
