BBC The One Show viewers infuriated by Richard Curtis' pension advice

Viewers of BBC's The One Show have expressed their irritation after pensions advice was dished out by screenwriter and filmmaker Richard Curtis. The 65-year-old appeared on the programme to speak about his campaign, which claims pensions are linked to deforestation and other damaging industries.

Curtis said: "Our pensions are being invested in industries that are responsible for deforestation. The dream is that we take out the money from the deforestation businesses and put them into things that are helping the environment.

"Sustainable investment often produces equal or more returns for people, in fact it's profitable and sensible thing to do. Everyday you could be investing in good businesses rather than businesses damaging the planet." he added.

However, viewers were less than impressed that the filmmaker was giving them advice on their pensions. Among them, @petermac68 tweeted: "See an IFA about pensions, not a one show guest #theoneshow"

@Radbadmad0: "There should be a qualified pension advisor on the show when talking about pensions #TheOneShow"

@Muppet2809: "As if multi-millionaire Richard Curtis is worried about pensions #theoneshow"

Also on tonight's show was comedian James Acaster, who spoke about his new series, Hypothetical. Ainsley Harriott and Grace Dent talked about touring British seaside towns for their new show, Best of Britain by the Sea.

We also saw Matt Allwright talk to people who have been scammed by subscription services for this week’s Watchdog.
