BBC The One Show's Alex Jones' cheeky boyband remark to co-presenter

The One Show 's Alex Jones couldn't help but tease her co-host Ronan Keating while introducing the line-up during the episode that aired on Thursday, September 22. The Welsh presenter made a cheeky boyband remark to the singer turned broadcaster as she welcomed Take That star Mark Owen to the BBC One programme.

Before he turned his talents to presenting, Ronan was a member of Boyzone, however, it seems Alex, who hails from Ammanford, may have favoured Take That. The mum-of-three took the opportunity to take a friendly swipe at her co-star as she introduced the star-studded celebrities joining the sofa, including Mark, veteran broadcaster David Dimbleby and icon Shania Twain.

Welcoming Mark, Alex said: "He's one third of one of the biggest boybands of all time..." before leaning towards Ronan and announcing: "Take That." Alex then started giggling before adding: "Mark Owen is here to tell us why he's once again venturing out on his own."

Ronan pretended to look gutted momentarily before continuing with the show. Mark, 50, was there to plug his new tour and his upcoming album, Land of Dreams, which is set to be released later this month.

The pair also spoke to David who reflected on his broadcasting career before Shania opened up about her new music, love of TikTok and filming the new series of ITV's Starstruck.

It comes after Alex missed the show on Tuesday night following a long stint of shifts presenting a special show in honour and memory of the Queen who died on Thursday, September 9. On Tuesday, the show returned to screens in its usual slot with Emma Willis and Jermaine Jenas at the helm.

Alex, who was missing the show, shared a touching message with her Instagram followers."Thank you for watching over the last ten days," she said.

"It was an honour to pay tribute to Her Majesty the Queen and reading your messages and seeing your photos was the best part."

Alex also spoke about being reunited with her "old pal" Gethin Jones, who presented the special shows alongside her. Alex continued: "Also, being next to my old pal @gethincjones is always a treat. Sad and special times all at once." For more showbiz and television stories, get our newsletter here.
