BBC The One Show hosts shocked as David Baddiel reveals wife's occupation

David Baddiel shocked BBC The One Show hosts Alex Jones and Ronan Keating when he revealed his wife's occupation.

Baddiel and Frank Skinner joined the duo on the iconic green sofa on Thursday night (November 17) to chat about Three Lions ahead of the FIFA World Cup in Qatar, which begins on Sunday. Actors Jake Gyllenhaal and Gabrielle Union also made an appearance, discussing their latest Disney animated film Strange World.

The film, which premieres next week, follows three generations of a family who have to tackle their misunderstandings in order to save the world. Gyllenhaal and Union, who play husband and wife in Strange World, shared what it was like to be record their lines while acting as an animated character.

Union explained how the actors are in a booth by themselves, essentially acting with the director - but they eventually see the characters evolve and 'come to life.' She said: "When you first sign on, you a see a picture of your character, very rough... And then over the course of a year plus, year and a half, you see your animation come to life.

"You start eventually hearing the other people's voices on the other side. And you realise 'oh, they were actually recording me.' Now my character has dimples, suddenly my character is like, 'boy bye, what!' Because they're watching us, they're putting all of our mannerisms and facial expressions into the character."

As the discussion continued, Baddiel revealed he had a connection with the actors - that his wife also worked as a voice actor. He said: "This is interesting for me because my wife - this is true - my wife is Mummy Pig in Peppa Pig."

Gyllenhaal and Union responded with "wow," and polite head nods, but The One Show hosts were left shocked - and it showed on their faces. "No way!" Jones said, as Keating shouted: "What!?"

"Morwenna Banks is Mummy Pig," he continued, joking: "It's complicated for a Jewish bloke, to be honest with you, but..." Skinner added: "There's children crying all over Britain... 'she isn't real?!'

Baddiel laughed, responding: "Yeah - no sorry, it's a pig. But yeah, she had a lot of animation voice work, that's what she does."
