BBC The Apprentice viewers wowed over ex-children's TV star Angellica Bell's surprise appearance

Viewers of The Apprentice were left stunned when a former children's TV star made a surprise appearance on the show. Angellica Bell was among the expert line-up who were casting their verdict on the candidate's latest project. The hit show returned to screens on Thursday night (January 19) with the remaining 15 candidates hoping to make it one step further to bagging Lord Alan Sugar's investment.

Episode three saw the billionaire businessman challenge the two teams - which were mixed up for the first time this series - to create a new pre-school cartoon aimed at two to four-year-olds which they then had to pitch to industry experts.

Dani Donovan, Shazia Hussain, Sohail Chowdhary, Mark Moseley, Marnie Swindells and Bradley Johnson now formed Team Affinity with Avi Sharma as project leader. Meanwhile, Denisha Kaur Bharj, Gregory Ebbs, Joseph Phillips, Megan Hornby, Rochelle Anthony, Simba Rwambiwa and Victoria Goulbourne became Team Apex, led by Reece Donnelly.

While both teams opted for an inclusivity theme, Team Affinity chose to create a story centered around Yogita the Giraffe – a giraffe with a nervous laugh who is self-conscious about her height but still makes friends at school. Team Apex, meanwhile, decided to deliver a message of kindness.

They opted for two characters - Femi and Faye - with the story showing Femi asking Faye to join him at the park but when wheelchair user Faye said she couldn't play on the slide, he came up with a clapping game they could both take part in. But the group ran out of time and didn't add hands or feet for the characters.

Both teams then had to pitch their short films to the industry experts which included Angellica Bell. Many will remember Angelica for being the main host on CBBC shows including 50/50 and Xchange. Viewers are now most likely to see her co-presenting The Martin Lewis Money Show with money expert Martin Lewis.

And as she cast her verdict on the candidates efforts, The Apprentice viewers were flocking to social media to comment on 46-year-old Angellica's appearance, calling her 'timeless'. @chrisjlatimer tweeted "Angelica bell did cbbc when I was a teenager she looks exactly the same. Timeless."

@evann_lfc echoed: "Angelica Bell still looking the exact same as she did when I used to watch her present cbbc in the early 00s #TheApprentice." @NiickBoii posted: "Angelica is Queen. Really takes me back to childhood. She does not age at all, that’s the beauty especially for a legend like herself. She deserves all the flowers and respect.#TheApprentice."

Others were just thrilled to see her. @kirstyskye22 commented: "Angelica Bell on #TheApprentice takes me right back. An absolute icon of children's TV!" @TizRheaD shared: "I love how Angelica Bell introduces herself as if they didn’t all grow up watching her on CBBC #TheApprentice."

@LeighKirkham wrote: "Angelica Bell, you do not need to introduce yourself, I would have been fangirling so hard if I walked into that room #theapprentice." @jennylass96 added: "Buzzing to see Angelica Bell, she was my childhood #TheApprentice."
