BBC The Apprentice returns with a twist as trailer for Series 17 drops

Lord Sugar has revealed a twist to The Apprentice when it returns in January - after a trailer for Series 17 was dropped. The first episode is going to take place in Antigua & Barbuda.

The footage which has been released shows the entrepreneurs in paradise, including a clip of the Dubai skyline.

Lord Sugar says: "It's the opportunity of a lifetime. The world's now open for business. We're kicking things off with the ultimate task. One of you will be gone before your postcards get back."

Baroness Brady, Lord Alan Sugar and Claude Littner are the three judges on The Apprentice, and Scots theatre director Reece Donnelly is reported to be one of those on a mission to impress.

A source told The Sun: "In these hard times for the BBC, many might expect budgets to be cut and for producers to go for a cheaper option when producing a show like this."

"But clearly no expense was spared as the contestants were all flown out to Antigua for what must be the most luxurious foreign trip the show has ever seen.

"There are always British tourists in Antigua and they could not believe it when they were approached to ask to go on one of the group's tours as part of the task."

They added: "Surely there's somewhere closer, and cheaper, they could have taken the hopefuls?"

The next series of The Apprentice, which begins next month, sees the number of candidates on the show rise to 18.

The show will return on BBC One in January, with episodes available to catch up with via the iPlayer afterwards too.
