BBC The Apprentice: Brittany Carter leaves show in tearful scenes - but now has exciting news

Last night (March 17), competition on The Apprentice heated up as the remaining four candidates pitched their business ideas to Lord Sugar's trusted aides and interviewers. The episode marked an important moment in the history of the show, which has been on air since the mid-2000s: the final four were all women, for the first time ever.

The four ambitious businesswomen in the final four included Kathryn Louise Burn, Stephanie Affleck, Harpreet Kaur, and Bristol's very own Brittany Carter. The former front of house manager at Bristol's Marriott hotels had the pressure of pitching her task to several aides and interviewers, and unfortunately was unsuccessful.

Even though she may be out of the competition, things are certainly far from over for Brittany, who revealed to fans last night that things are looking up for her business, Maintain the Gain. The 25-year-old fitness fanatic has been working on her trailblazing new brand for some time, which creates high-protein alcoholic drinks, for those who do not want to sacrifice their protein intake whilst on a night out.

Speaking to her Instagram followers shortly after the penultimate episode aired, Brittany said: "Just like that, my time in The Apprentice is over. That was the best experience of my whole entire life, and I just loved every second of it.

"Watching the interviews was slightly difficult. I really wish I could've held it together, but I was just so passionate about my business and I think that came through. When I submitted the business plan, I did genuinely think it was good enough, and I was really proud. But obviously there were things missing."

Although she was tearful during last night's episode, Brittany annouced that exciting things will be happening in the weeks ahead. She told her followers: "Just to say, I am still continuing to launch Maintain the Gain.

"We finalised the recipe and we’re launching within the next 4-6 weeks, so it all still looks really exciting and I am proud of my girls in the final two. I love them so much, and Stephanie as well. You're all amazing and thank you for all of the support."

During her first interview, Brittany sat down with Claude Littner, who was replaced by Tim Campbell MBE this series after falling off his bike. After briefly outlining her business to Claude, Brittany was criticised by the business executive.

Claude, 72, told Brittany: "Now, I'm somewhat mystified by your business plan. Before entering this process, you must have known the critical nature of providing a business plan with a profit and loss account, cash flow, all of those things - you haven't provided it."

After Brittany confessed she had been 'naive' and thought she would be able to show there was a 'huge gap in the market' by her market analysis. Claude noted that this was a 'serious, serious flaw', before moving on to discuss production costs, which Brittany had not fully included in her business plan.

Claude concluded: "I'm not being funny, but this business plan is not the business plan. The interview's terminated."

Brittany was later informed by Mike Soutar, who stepped in for Tim Campbell MBE earlier in the series, that her product was 'chalky' and tasted 'bitter'. The Bristolian businesswoman became upset, and was especially tearful when she was reunited with her fellow candidates downstairs.

Alongside Brittany, Stephanie Affleck, a designer children's clothing brand owner from Kent, also failed to make it to the final. However, like Brittany, Stephanie has high hopes for her business going forward, as she claims she 'took all the lessons she could' from the interviews and accordingly made changes to her brand.
