BBC studio crew gasp as James Bye reveals gruesome Strictly training injury

Strictly Come Dancing contestant James Bye has shared a gruesome injury he sustained during training. The EastEnders actor, who is paired with Welsh professional dancer Amy Dowden, is currently preparing for week three on the BBC One dance show.

On Tuesday, October 4, James and Amy appeared on Strictly spin-off It Takes Two to reflect on their previous performance and to discuss their upcoming routine, which will see James take on the role of Star-Lord from Guardians of the Galaxy.

Speaking to presenter Rylan Clark, however, James revealed that while showing Amy his fitness skills he caused great damage to his ring finger. He explained: "I was trying to show Amy how strong I was in the rehearsal room so I did a few pull-ups…

The soap star continued: "I ripped my finger open," as audible gasps could be heard from the production crew in the studio. "Literally," Rylan responded: "The finger almost fell off."

James then lifted his hand and added: "The wedding ring is sort of the only thing keeping my finger on. We'll see how we get on with that one!" Rylan joked in response: "He lives another day to tell the tale – that's what it's all about."

It comes after Amy admitted her "heart was in her mouth" during the latest live Strictly Come Dancing show, which saw the pair perform a Tango to Bad Habits by Ed Sheeran. Amy and James scored a total of 24 points and managed to avoid the dreaded dance-off, which saw Kaye Adams and Kai Widdrington sent home.

However, despite a successful performance, Amy has revealed their dress rehearsal didn't go as well. The dancer, from Caerphilly, shared a clip of James falling backward on her Instagram account.

Sharing the tumble, she wrote: "What's the saying bad dress run a good show? We never once fell practicing this move. All I can say is my heart was in my mouth the entire performance and this very move was at the end of the routine.

"But for the big performance, it went perfectly. Can we just appreciate what a showman @jimmybye is getting straight back up, staying calm and in control and finishing the dance perfectly on time #legend. The same time as that look checking I was ok, #gentleman." You can read more on this here. For more showbiz and television stories get our newsletter here.
