Strictly Come Dancing star Molly Rainford is reportedly being lined up to represent the United Kingdom at the Eurovision Song Contest next year. In the last couple of months, the 22-year-old singer and CBBC actress has been performing on the BBC dance competition with professional partner Carlos Gu.
A source close to the Eurovision team involved in selecting the Brit candidates has revealed: “’Molly has all of the attributes to be a great act for the UK. She has a fantastic voice and she has a huge fan base. She is a real performer and has worked her way into the show business industry through hard graft.”
Talking to MailOnline, the insider added: “She is the epitome of what the UK candidate should be. It’s very exciting.” You can get more TV news and other story updates straight to your inbox by subscribing to our newsletters here .

Next year’s Eurovision Song Contest will take place in Liverpool following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine - the 2022 champions of the contest. Claire McColgan, director of Culture Liverpool, has said that the city would reflect “what Ukraine and its people deserve” and that it will purely be hosting the event for the country.
Should Molly represent the UK at Eurovision, she’d be following in big footsteps with last year’s runner-up, Sam Ryder’s career continuing to grow from strength to strength. He even recently performed a pop-up busking gig in Cardiff Bay. You can read more about that here.
Whilst Molly’s last released a single in 2020, she is certainly qualified to represent the UK at Eurovision. In 2012, she appeared on ITV’s Britain’s Got Talent where she sang Ave Maria, prompting interest from Simon Cowell who wanted to sign her to his label. However, her mother Sarah refused the offer because she didn’t want her to be a ‘one-hit wonder’. Find out if Molly makes it through to the Strictly Come Dancing 2022 final at 8.15pm on BBC One on Monday, December 12.
