BBC Strictly's Shirley Ballas responds to troll who labelled her 'mutton dressed as lamb'

Shirley Ballas has responded to a cruel troll who branded her "mutton dressed as lamb" following Saturday's episode.

The 62-year-old bravely replied to social media users who sent her hate on Twitter. The Strictly judges have been subject to criticism in recent weeks over their scores and decisions.

However, Shirley received several nasty comments before Sunday's results show. One user messaged to say he would like to see her "replaced" while another compared Shirley to "mutton dressed as lamb".

Replying to the first troll, Shirley said: "Ok. But enjoy the show and have a wonderful week." And in a response to the second, Shirley said: "Sorry you feel like this. Love that expression mutton dressed as lamb very northern. Anyway have a lovely Sunday, you made me smile."

Last week, Shirley asked viewers to be "respectful" after receiving hate for her decision to save Richie Anderson and Giovanni Pernice instead of Fleur East and Vitto Coppola in the dance-off.

She said: "I have received many apologies over the weekend regarding hurtful messages I’ve received on social media. All apologies are accepted and from now on let’s all respect each other and enjoy the show. Love to you all."
