BBC Strictly favourites Helen Skelton and Hamza Yasmin have landed a new TV job together

Strictly Come Dancing's Helen Skelton and Hamza Yassin are set to present BBC's Countryfile together. Whilst both have worked on the wildlife show before, they have never worked together on it.

The news comes after Helen and Hamza were a hit with viewers on the BBC dancing show this year, with the latter lifting the Glitterball over the weekend. “It’s a huge opportunity for Hamza and Helen as Countryfile’s ratings eclipse most soap operas. But it’s unlikely to be the only project they both get," wrote a TV insider.

The same source added to The Sun: “Hamza is set to front his own nature show, while Helen is expected to get her own vehicle based around her adventurous and bubbly personality.”

Hamza is a cameraman on wildlife shows (Channel 4)

There have previously been reports that, following Hamza's Strictly success, TV bosses have been pitching him as a successor to renowned TV naturalist Sir David Attenborough. Upon lifting the Glitterball, the 32-year-old wildlife cameraman and presenter, who was partnered with Jowita Przystal said: “I am absolutely over the moon, I can’t believe it. I didn’t believe I would make it past week one, let alone make it to the final and lift that Glitterball. This wouldn’t have been possible without Jowita, she have been my absolute rock through this entire experience and I wouldn’t have wanted this journey with anyone else, and for that I will be eternally grateful."

Whilst Helen just missed out on winning this year, a number of different TV projects are said to have been lined up for her following her appearance on the show. A BBC insider told The Sun: "[BBC] bosses want to make her the channel’s new 'golden girl'. She is being lined up for guest presenting slots on the BBC’s The One Show and Morning Live.” You can get more TV news and other story updates straight to your inbox by subscribing to our newsletters here.
