BBC Strictly fans make same point and say 'it's unfair' as Tess and Claudia share Kym Marsh announcement

On Saturday night the Strictly dancefloor was missing a couple as soap favourite Kym Marsh was forced to miss this weekend's performance after testing positive for Covid-19. The former Coronation Street star and her pro dance partner Graziano Di Prima had made it to week 10 in the BBC dance contest.

The pair scored 33 points out of a possible 40 for a powerful paso doble to a Rihanna megamix last weekend in Blackpool. However, on Tuesday, the sad news was announced that she was out of the show this weekend.

A Strictly spokesperson said: "Kym Marsh has tested positive for Covid-19. As a result, Kym and Graziano will not be taking part in Strictly Come Dancing this weekend. Strictly Come Dancing protocols mean that all being well, they will return the following week."

At the start of Saturday's live show (November 26) hosts Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman paused proceedings as they explained Kym's absence. After introducing the other couples they sent love to Kym watching at home.

Tess said into the camera: "Kym and Graziano are not with us tonight. Kym has tested positive for Covid and is resting at home and all being well she and Graziano will be back to dance again next week."

Claudia added: "Kym we know you're watching. Everybody in here, we are sending you so much love." As the get well wishes came pouring in, other viewers took to Twitter to make the same point with just three weeks to go to the final.

The quarter final will air on Friday December 2, moving forward by a day because of World Cup coverage. And fans reckon no-one else should face the dance-off during Kym's absence.

@CHEEEKYsausage tweeted: "I hope she's okay and recovers quickly but shouldn't they have to exit at this late stage? As now someone else may get kicked out earlier than they should."

@ruggerlad said: "Poor Kym! But she gets an automatic pass. Potentially she might have been bottom two." And @BethanyFoden wrote: "I don’t think anyone should leave tbh because Kym isn’t dancing, I don’t think it’s fair tbh."

@_AaronL__wrote: "Understandably Covid is no fault of her own but why should someone else lose their place. There should be no elimination." @Crazier also said: "The only fair thing is for nobody to go home this week." And @katienotkaie echoed: "Maybe there shouldn't be any eliminations this week."

@Trishie_D messaged: "I hope Kym is ok." @JamesN1991 said: "Kym, get well soon and hopefully we'll see you next week on Strictly." And @Mabel_Mouse_ tweeted: "Get well soon @msm4rsh."
