BBC Strictly Come Dancing star quits OnlyFans after just two months due to 'child exploitation'

In August, former Strictly Come Dancing star John Waite joined OnlyFans for his 'cheekier gym progress' content but now, just two months later, he has quit the adult site. OnlyFans is an adult website where often sexual content is posted.

John, who won the Great British Bake Off in 2012, appeared on Strictly Come Dancing in 2021. He was partnered with Johannes Radebe in the first-ever all-male pairing on the show.

They narrowly missed out on the Glitterball trophy after they came second to Rose Ayling-Ellis and Giovanni Pernice. Now John, who posted a lengthy paragraph explaining his reasons for joining OnlyFans, is no longer on the site.

John explained that he has left the site is due to allegations that OnlyFans "are still able to exploit young children". He has said he will not "put profit before social purpose".

He said: "Following the news today alleging that users of the OnlyFans platform are still able to exploit young children, I have taken the decision to close down my account. While the claims are yet to be proven/refuted, I cannot morally continue to use a platform that is subject to such serious allegations."

John added: "Child exploitation is abhorrent and must be stopped. I cannot continue to use OnlyFans until there is, unequivocally, no possible means of child exploitation." WalesOnline has approached OnlyFans for comment.

At the time of joining OnlyFans John asked for his fans to respect his choice. He said: "Some of you may still have some quite strong opinions about my decision, but I ask that you respect it and keep an open heart and open mind."

Other celebrities have come under fire for joining the adult website including Sarah Jayne Dunn, who was forced to quit her role on Channel 4 soap Hollyoaks once she had joined OnlyFans. Once finding out that Sarah joined the website in lockdown, Hollyoaks bosses said that she would have to stop posting on the website or leave the show, crediting their younger viewers as the reason.
