BBC Strictly Come Dancing's Maisie Smith in 'proper cat fight' with reality star on Channel 4 show

It was gruelling, pushed them to the limits and even set two TV stars against each other in what has been branded a 'proper cat fight'... and all in the name of charity. Former BBC Strictly Come Dancing Star Maisie Smith has revealed what we can expect to see during filming for Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins.

The hit Channel 4 show puts 14 famous faces to the test. Whisked off to the Jordanian desert, the physical and mental capabilities of the stars are tested against the SAS Selection test with the aim of raising cash and awareness for a cancer charitable trust.

In the latest series, which is due to air on Sunday, September 4, Maisie Smith says she had a 'proper cat fight' with reality star Ferne McCann during filming. Ferne is a former The Only Way Is Essex star.

Maisie, who played Tiffany Butcher in EastEnders and appeared as a contestant on Strictly in 2020, has also revealed she was given the nickname 'Tiny Temper' while filming for the show. In one scene from the show, viewers will see the 21-year-old having to fight Ferne, 32. She says they both "just went crazy".

In an interview with The Sun ahead of the new series, Maisie said: "I thought, 'OK. I need to step up my game'. I was going for a solid minute with just screaming and punching, like a proper cat fight. I got a couple of good punches in. It wasn’t like a normal boxing ring. It was nonstop." She added: "I think neither of us wanted to do it. We just closed our eyes, pictured someone we hated and absolutely went crazy on each other!"

Among other celebs joining Maisie and Fearne, are reality TV star Pete Wicks and Javelin Olympic Gold Medallist Fatima Whitbread MBE. Fellow Olympians include sprinter Dwain Chambers, Paralympic high jumper, Jonathan Broom-Edwards MBE and Taekwondo Olympic Gold Medallist, Jade Jones OBE. Former footballer Ashley Cain, professional dancer, AJ Pritchard and professional dancer and TV personality Curtis Pritchard are also on the list.

  • Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins airs on Channel 4 on Sunday, September 4, at 9pm.
