Gorka Marquez has broken his silence following the Strictly Come Dancing final which saw viewers claim he had a 'fuming face' following Hamza Yassin and Jowita Przystal victory in the 2022 series. But the Spanish dancer, who was paired with TV presenter Helen Skelton, showed he was a good sport and congratulated the winning team on his Instagram after the show ended.
He paid tribute to the winners today (Sunday, December 18). He wrote on Instagram: "The Champs!!! Congratulations to both of you for a great series!! #bravo." The sweet post comes after 32-year-old wildlife cameraman and presenter Hamza beat three other couples – Fleur East and Vito Coppola, Molly Rainford and Carlos Gu, and Helen Skelton and Gorka Marquez – to lift the glitterball trophy on Saturday.

Gorka and Helen's final dance was met with tears from both Helen's dad, Richard and Gorka's partner, actress Gemma Atkinson, after their emotional journey on the show, which the TV presenter joined after her husband Richie Myler left her and their three children.
Last night some viewers are convinced Gorka was fuming he and Helen were not the winners, after clocking his reaction. @GoziOkolo tweeted: "Oh my days, Gorka was FUMING! Well done Hamza Great final with some fantastic dances. " And @thattheatretea1 tweeted: "Gorka robbed at another final he’s mega mega fuming."
Overwhelmed by his win, Hamza was full of praise for his professional partner, saying she was an 'angel disguised as a human being.'
"Thank you to everyone out there voting for us. This is the best thing that's ever happened to me," said Hamza. He went on to share a piece of advice a choreographer had shared with him.
"One, surround yourself with people whose eyes light up when they see you come in. Two, the top of one mountain is the bottom of another so keep climbing. And three, slowly is the fastest way to get to where you want to be."
Jowita, who won her first Strictly series, said: "He's just a proof that anything is possible. He came here on the show with no dancing experience with pigeon toes and he made it. And I'm so proud of him."
She added she was honoured to be partnered with Hamza.
Hamza was victorious even after making a few errors in his first dance, the salsa. You can read more on that here.
Each couple performed three dances in the final: one dance chosen by the judges, one dance chosen by the couple, and a show dance.
