Gorka Marquez may be busy rehearsing for not one but two performances on this weekend's Strictly Come Dancing but he made sure he had time to dance with his daughter in adorable scenes. The Spanish dancer was videoed by fiancee Gemma Atkinson showing their little girl some moves in their Greater Manchester home.
However, it wasn't just any old performance as it appears Gorka, 32, had to follow Will Mellor and Nancy Xu's performance from musicals week in the BBC One dance contest. Last Friday night, due to a change in the schedule because of the World Cup, the actor and his professional dance partner performed a foxtrot to Sun And Moon from Miss Saigon.
Meanwhile, Gorka and his celebrity partner Helen Skelton sent Strictly viewers wild with a saucy couple’s choice routine – meaning they do not have to do a traditional dance – to Mein Herr from Cabaret. But Gorka and Gemma's daughter Mia's love affair with Will is continuing - as Gemma's latest video proved.
Taking to Instagram, she shared the clip of Gorka and Mia, three, dancing in their living room with her millions of followers. And on the TV in the background, Strictly could be seen on catch-up with Will and Nancy performing on-screen. "Still on Will's dance but at least she lets Papa dance it with her," Gemma, 38, typed alongside the adorable video.
Hits Radio host Gemma, from Bury, has previously spoken about Mia's interest in Will and it was even brought up by Claudia Winkleman on the hit show. Last month, Mia finally got to meet the Two Pints of Lager and Coronation Street actor as she headed with her mum to watch rehearsals for the show's Blackpool special.
And Mia looked delighted as Gemma took to Instagram to share a picture of her daughter alongside Will on the dancefloor as he got in some last-minute rehearsals. "Mia's dream came true," proud mum Gemma typed alongside the adorable snap of the pair.
The same day, Gemma made an appearance on her Hits Radio co-star and Strictly contestant Fleur East's morning show which she was doing live from Madame Tussauds Blackpool. And the former Emmerdale and Hollyoaks star was quick to make a confession: "As soon as I’m dressed I’m heading down to Blackpool but, and it’s quite embarrassing to say this because you'd think I was coming to support Fleur or Gorka..."
She added: "In reality, I’m bringing my daughter Mia to meet Will Mellor because that’s all she wants to do.." Gemma went on: "I’m not sure why, because he’s never met him before, but he did a dance earlier in the series when he looked down the barrel of the camera and she just turned to me and said 'It’s made me giddy.'"
But back to the dancing and it's not the first time Gorka has shared a sweet video of himself teaching Mia how to dance. He metled hearts last month in a clip that showed him showing Mia different moves from the Charleston and Jive. After a brief Charleston practice he asked if she wanted to do the Quickstep before getting onto his knees to show her how to get into frame.
Gorka was clearly thrilled with the father and daughter moment as he posted the clips to his own Instagram grid to a cover of You Are My Sunshine. "Evening dance practice.," Gorka started the caption of his Instagram post. "Mia is getting in the routine of wanting to dance every night when I come home from rehearsals… @glouiseatkinson #tinnydancer."
JLS star and former Strictly contestant Aston Merrygold was among the first to comment, simply posting a heart and a crying face emoji. Fans were also quick to flood the comments section with messages but it was Gemma's comment that got Gorka's followers laughing as the former Emmerdale and Hollyoaks star said: "Wait until I teach her the dutty wine and twerk."
